The Story of LAF Ranch
My name is Fritz Faust, and I’m proud to be one of the owners of LAF Ranch. This land has been part of my family since 1906, and we’ve always worked to preserve its natural beauty. We believe in leaving the ranch as untouched as possible, respecting the land, its wildlife, and its history. That means minimal hunting, fishing, and above all, protecting the rich Native American heritage that is part of this place.
Growing up, the ranch was the heart of my world. Some of my best memories are from those days—epic swimming parties, holidays at the Green Cabin, and roaming the hills and valleys with friends and family. We worked hard and played even harder, tackling endless projects while celebrating life together. When my mom passed away during my junior year of high school, I left for the city to build a career and raise my own family. My dad stayed behind, retreating into the ranch’s solitude, and only a few people were allowed to visit. For those who did, the ranch became a place of healing, peace, and connection. It was incredible to see the impact this land had on people.
In October 2023, I discovered Hipcamp and decided to open the ranch to others. It’s been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life to meet visitors who share my love for nature and respect for this land. Seeing them find joy, peace, and renewal here brings me so much happiness.
My hope is that every guest leaves the ranch feeling refreshed and connected—to nature, their loved ones, themselves, and to God. You can swim in the cool clear river, explore the hills and valleys, and take in the beauty all around you. If LAF Ranch can give you that sense of renewal, then I’ll know I’ve done something right.

My sister and I decided to go on a weekend camping trip to escape the city and Fritz’s land was the perfect place to find peace and tranquility. We camped at the teepee and enjoyed the sounds of the little waterfall down below and the maple trees along the creek. We were thinking about driving to Lost Maples to see the trees leaves changing colors but didn’t even have to because his land was so beautiful and pristine. We will be back!

We loved camping on Fritz's land. We were running late and got there well after dark, but he still waited on us! He is an amazing host and has a beautiful ranch with many camping spots to choose from. We camped in two different places: Devils Mountain & Big Spring. We never saw a single person or had a vehicle pass by our campsites while there. Very remote and beautiful! Can't recommend it enough!

Husband & I had an amazing time with our reconnect camping trip. Fritz was an incredible host & super understanding. The property! FREAKING INCREDIBLE! One of the most beautiful places we have visited & enjoyed the privacy offered. Truly an experience to have. Definitely plan on visiting often.

First off - Fritz's land is stunningly gorgeous. Tent camped for the night and seeing a super moon reflect off crystal clear water was a sight. I prefer out of the way places that have a hidden beauty and this fit the bill perfectly. It's a rare find and I look forward to seeing it again.

The LAF Ranch Campground is amazing. We had the best time. You are looking for an Outdoor adventure to switch of? That's the spot! We were 2 Family's with 4 kids and everyone was happy. A couple of things you need to consider. - no internet connection - no shower - no power - approx. 45 min to the next grocery store. (So be prepared and bring everything. In total I'm giving Fritz 10/10! What a nice piece of earth this is.
